Abstract

Whose opinion is it anyway? Professional meets social in the travel industry

A look at how the travel industry, from travel publishers to tour operators, tourist boards to travel agencies are embracing, integrating and making use of digital media and its access to millions of very different and often contradictory opinions. Is the age of the travel writer a thing of the past, or do consumers still want professionally produced content? An intriguing lecture will be given by Craig Turp, Editor-in-chief of game-changing travel publisher In Your Pocket, and author of a number of travel guides and books, including Dorling Kindersley’s Eyewitness Guide to Hungary and APA’s Insight Guides to Romania & Bulgaria.
